Google Plus Circles – Where the Magic Happens
I thought Google Plus Circles deserved there own post. After all, this is where the magic happens. If you don’t know how to use Google Plus Circles, then maybe you should start learning to. You’ll be glad you do.
Just like on Facebook, Google Plus has a limit to how many people you can Circle/Friend. That limit happens to be 5,000. However, more than 5,000 people can circle you. Amanda Blain of GirlFriendSocial has over one million that have circled her.
But, how does one sort out all the clutter. Obviously when you start getting about 200-500 people that you’ve Circled, then your stream starts to flood. This actually annoyed me for the longest time, until I learned how to use Circles.
Basically, a Circle is a group of people that you connect with. You can have a Circle for Photography, Gamers, Movie Lovers, Ancient Aliens, or what ever fancies you. You’ll want to sort these people into categories to make them easier to follow. I don’t know about you, but 20-50 people are easier to follow than 200-1,000.
If you’re having trouble finding the Circle Location on Google plus, just check the image below.
Once you’re in the Circles area, you can either put people into one of the four circles you have already, or you can create a new one, which is relatively easy. Just click on the Create Circle button.
On the Create Circle screen, you’ll see a few options. This is relatively straight forward. We’ll first have to add a Title, so if I were to create a Circle and Name it Tutorial Experts, I could then put anyone who makes really good Tutorials in there. Or perhaps you might add anyone that watches your Tutorials in that same circle. Then all you’ll need to do is add a description and add people that you already know that do this. If you don’t know anyone, then just leave that blank for now.
Why do this? By sharing to specific Circles, people are more like to watch/read your content as well as +1 or share it. I recommend doing this if you’re a content producer. If you play Empire Avenue, then I recommend sharing to Public and to a Circle. Chances are, you’ll get more interaction that way.
And there you have it. You’re new circle is ready to be used. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, I’ll be creating more of them on a regular basis. Be sure to leave a comment, suggestion, or ask a question if you have any that need answered.

Google Plus – It’s All About the Fundamentals
I’m going to start a blogging series here on my blog about Google Plus. Sense it’s all about the fundamentals, I thought I would explain what those were. A lot of people go about Social Media in a way that they don’t even understand. It’s mind boggling really. If you do the same thing over and over and expect different results, then what kind of person does that make you? Go ahead and leave a comment below.
So, here is a list of the main fundamentals of building a following.
- Content – It’s always about this isn’t it?
- Connect – If you don’t do this, you may as well hang it up.
- Share, Share, Share – Really, it’s not that hard.
These are the three basics that you must get down. If you don’t, then I can’t help you.
Producing Content for Google Plus is rather easy. Images are a great start. People love to share, +1, and comment on them. You’ll get a lot of interaction out of sharing Images and Video, so be sure to do both.
Connecting is easy too. Just click on that add to circle button at the top right of the screen. Easy right? You can create other circles, but I think that’s for another post.
If you have numerous circles, share content with those circles. You’re more likely to get interaction, or you can just share it publicly and use the circles to find content. Sharing is as simple as hitting that Share Arrow in the middle at the bottom of the post.
Get these fundamentals down and you’ll be able to use them across any network. Google Plus is a great network to build a following. No matter who you are, you have a specialty and something to offer. So, go out and get started. Can you think of a few more fundamentals that people need to get down?
