What Is Success To You?

So, what is success to you?  Many people go through life thinking that they are successful or at least happier than rich people.  Now, I always have to ask myself a certain question, how is it that everyday people can claim that they’re happier than the rich?  Now, surely both sides have their pitfalls?  If you missed my last article on The Key to Success, just click on the link provided after reading this one.

When it comes to success, you can’t look at one thing such as, money or time.  You have to examine everything when looking at the big picture.  Let’s look at an example: person A over here has lot’s of Money, while person B has lots of time but no money, yet again, person C has time and money.  Again, what is success to you?

Let’s get back to person A shall we?  These are the people who have a considerable amount of Money, yet have no time to enjoy it.  There are many pitfalls to this and I’m sure you’ll be able to point some out that I don’t.  These people have no life, they work many hours throughout the week with no time for family, and they may or may not have very many possessions.  See the problem?

Now person B on the other hand, these  people work full or part time, yet have no Money to do the things they want to do.  Instead, they’ll have mounds of debt, nothing to show for, and always worried about living paycheck to paycheck.  These people generally have more time, but they’re usually spending that time working on projects at home that need to get done.  Sound familiar?  This is the average person we’re talking about.

Last, but certainly not the least, we have person C.  These are the people who are fed up with the daily grind of going to work and have set out own their own.  They are the ones who have: managed to find a balance between time and business, learned to manage their money so they don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck, don’t always have to have the next new thing, and they certainly don’t by things they don’t need.

The working class Average Joe generally finds himself/herself wanting something they can’t afford yet.  When you’ve got money, it’s generally a whole different attitude.  It’s more or less, “do I really need a 3rd generation iPad when I have the 2nd?”

Yet at the same time, the Average Joe, tends to be poor, worried about where their next Paycheck is going to come from, worried whether or not the lights are going to get shut off or if they’ll have enough food, struggling to pay the taxes on the property that they “own,” not to mention, scrambling to fix their work vehicle when it breaks down on one of their work days, thus costing them more money and time.  I don’t know, sounds pretty stressful to me, just to be an Average Joe?

Again, success is numerous factors, how much time you have, do you have worry about paying the next bill, are you loved by your family, and what about your overall health?  There maybe one or two things missing here, but you get the idea.  Let’s close this out by asking you to leave a comment….

The Key To Success

What is the Key to Success?  Is there really a such Key?  Many people may not realize it, but there is.  I’ve been learning a lot about Success lately and I have to say that I’m blown away.  There are literally tons of valuable information and teachers available, so there is no reason not to succeed.

There is perhaps one single most important factor that determines Success.  What is it?  Mindset.  That’s right, it’s merely how you think and perceive the world.  It never fails, time and time again people often make an excuse.  These excuses range from, it’s already been done, to I can’t turn my passion into my job.

This kind of thinking, is dangerous.  Not only is it dangerous to the way you think, but it’s also dangerous to your health.  Health and Success go hand in hand, if you’re not healthy, you won’t be successful.  I’m not talking about a healthy body, although that’s important too, no I’m talking about a healthy mind.

Have you ever seen the type of person that is a loving and caring person, but perhaps they care and love a bit too much?  You know the ones, they’re always tired when they come home, they never take time to enjoy the day, and little things like playing with the kids annoy them?  That’s not healthy, that’s not successful.

In order to be successful, we have to take care of ourselves, yes that included taking breaks.  If you haven’t found your passion yet, keep trying, you’ll find it.  There is already someone doing what you love and making money at it, no reason you can’t too.

Think positive and visualize already having what you dream and the doors will open.

The Pounding – Poem – by Roger Hoyt

The Pounding

There is a disturbance in the force.
My mind isn’t running the normal course.
The head is pounding away.
I think my body is about to sway.
How can I even think?
When it hurts to just blink.
Is there no remedy for this?
Can I not find my peaceful bliss?
Perhaps a pill will suffice?
Day after day, I roll the dice.
Playing the game, but I’m alone.
I had it coming, should have known.
You can’t win every time.
The clock tics and the head does chime.

Dance In The Rain

Dance In The Rain

I dance in the rain with thee.
For your mind and soul set me free.
Laughter and love on this night.
Together, we will not be fright.
Standing against the storm.
This is how love does form.
I cherish this moment for all time.
And hope I never turn into a lime.
For when that happens, all is lost.
Love is always the last to be tossed.
I will always remember you.
Even if it means, that I’ll turn blue.
Despite the fact, we’re worlds apart.
Only you can have my heart.

What Have I Been Up To?

There are a lot of changes happening in 2012.  It is the year of the Water Dragon after all.  According to the Chinese, this is the year of prosperity and good fortune.  Is this the time for change?

Many would argue yes and I couldn’t agree more.  If we’re to survive the coming decades, we have to change.  That’s what I’m been doing, changing my thought processes and a  daily basis.

This is a good thing though, my thoughts are changing for the better me, a more positive me.  Right now, I feel like I could take on the world.  Which I plan on doing here this year.

Right now, I’m posting on Facebook as I write this and it’s going rather quickly, often like a chat would in a chat room.  On top of that, I’ve got “One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful” on Youtube repeat.  Yes, Youtube has a repeat.

This song that is playing right now seems to be giving me a lot of energy.  Maybe it’s the fact that it’s a catchy song and has a good beat.  That catchy tune allows me to move around a bit.  You know what I mean.  haven’t you ever tried to dance in your chair while you were typing a blog post?  No???  Maybe it’s just me then.

What else have I been doing?  A lot of Social Media.  I’ve been Networking and increasing my contacts.  Empire Avenue is a great way to do just that.  Social Media is where it’s at.  So many good things have came out of Social Media.  Justin Bieber got big because of Social Media.  People have traveled the world because of Social Media.  People have become successful Entrepreneurs because of it.  Authors are finding it easier to make sales because of Social Media.

I’ve also been planning a project.  A few people already know about it.  My biggest dream is to travel the world and see different places.   I’m going to be capturing the moments.  Filming what I can and making documentaries, uploading pictures and special moments, etc.

I’ve made it a goal to read at least one book a week.  I’m a bit of a slow reader and to increase my reading speed would be a plus.  I can do that if I read more often.  Most of my reading is done on Blogs or Social Media sites nowadays.  So, it’s nice to get away from the PC and pick up a Book.  Yes, I’m “Old Fashion.”  Ever heard the saying, “The old becomes the new.”  That will be books in the next 10 years or so.

I’m still planning my novel and I’m working on a Short Story.  I find that by working on multiple projects, it allows you to be more productive.  At least it feels more productive.  If you can’t work on one story, you can work on the other.  No excuses right?  If you’re wondering what the Short Story is about, it’s going to be sort of Super Hero based.  Keep an eye out for that.

When you’re an Entrepreneur/Author, live takes a new path.  It’s not difficult though to integrate that new path in your already existing life.  You have to stay positive and look on the bright side of things and not let others bring you down to your level.  2012 is the year to soar.  I plan on soaring high.  Just like Justin Bieber and J. K. Rowling climbing to the top, it’s my time to soar.  I’m not looking back either.

To our success.

Coffee – Fun Facts

Here are a few fun facts about Coffee.  Sense I’m getting into the Coffee business, I figured, why not learn more and more about Coffee.  Why not?  Here are some fun facts to enjoy.

Coffee was originally eaten.  African tribes mixed Coffee Berries with fat, which in turn made edible energy balls.

All Coffee in the world is grown in what’s known as the “Bean Belt.”  It stretches between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.  Hawaii is the only state in the US that grows this remarkable bean.

In 1675, the King of England banned Coffee Houses, claiming that they were places where people met to conspire against him.

70% of the world consumes Arabica Coffee, which is a mild and aromatic Coffee.  The other 30% of Coffee drinkers, drink Robusta, which is more bitter, but has half again (50% more) as much caffeine.

Coffee grows on Trees, which can grow up to 30 feet tall.  Farmers find them difficult to harvest though at that height, instead, they cultivate the Trees to grow at around 10 feet instead.

The Bean is actually a Seed inside a bright red berry.

Coffee is the second most traded Commodity in the world.  Second only to Oil.

It’s also the most drank liquid on the planet.  Second only to water.

There you have it.  Some fun facts about Coffee.  Maybe there is something in there that you didn’t know?  What’s your favorite kind of Coffee?  Do you like it straight or do you perhaps like a Cappuccino style?

Back to Nature

Back to Nature

The world is not dull, for it sets the trend.
Oh, the message it is trying to send.
Storms rage as the Earth shakes the foundation.
Unwary passengers are at the station.
Unknowing of the events to come.
Or from whence they are from.

The stage is set for now.
Soon, the Earth will take a bow.
For even we do not listen.
Now we believe we have risen.

Shall we not walk away.
Live and learn in a new way.
Build the love and live in harmony.
For once, stop thinking about the money.
One day, we’ll wake up and see.
This is truly, what we wanted to be.

Why?

Why?

Why are we here?
It’s a question I’ve often pondered.
Many wonder if life has meaning at all.
No one’s ever came back to tell us otherwise.

Often we never get anywhere.
Many times too late, we’re already there.
Perhaps we have everything right here, or not.
Will we ever even know?

Life is truly a journey.
Why then does it feel as though I’m caged?
That I’m running in cirlces, going no where fast.
I see in others, what I see in myself.

Why then, do I not see this flower?
Even though, it’s right under my nose.
Struggling to reach the top, just to get a bit of light.
Only to fade away when winters frost comes.

Then I realize, that the meaning of life has always been here.
Right under my nose, just waiting to be seen.
To live, to grow, to die, to be reborn again.
Is it that simple?

Why did this not click before?
Just like the flower, growth takes time.
Time that there isn’t much of.
That is why we’re reborn again.
Until we learn what we need.

Nothing to Lose – Nothing to Gain

Have you ever sat there on the sidelines and just watched something happen?  Perhaps you’re watching it for enjoyment, or perhaps you’re watching it to learn something?  Either way, many people have sat on the sidelines of life and just watched.  But, most of the time it’s for a short period of time.  What happens when someone has the time to sit there for years and just watch life pass them by?

That was me for the longest time, I just sat there and watched life pass me by.  I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Just One More vs Tomorrow?”  I was the Tomorrow guy, always made sure that I had other things to do.  My interest kept me busy, and these interest ranged from: Video Games, Culture, Food, Technology, Music, Youtube.  Yep, I wasted away a lot of time on the web.  Heck, I still do, but at least this time, I’m moving towards a goal.

Social media has had an impact in my life like nothing else has.  Sharing my poetry and my blog post with others has giving me something to look forward to.  When you have people adding you to their list of favorite poets, there is something there.  It means that you have a way with words.  I’ve been told that I have the greatest ability to say so much with so little.  In fact, easy/simple poetry is often some times the hardest to write, because you’re trying to find the right word to fit in the equation.

My best poems though always come out right then and there.  No time wasted writing, no time wasted thinking.  It’s just there in a matter of a few minutes or less.  Some say that’s a gift with words, others say it’s a gift of thought.  Perhaps my imagination is much more than it seems.

When you’ve been sitting on the sidelines for a while, you have time to think, you have time to reflect.  How much time do you have to do that in any given day?  This down time, has given rise to many thoughts and ideas.   While some of them are farfetched, others are golden gems ready to be plucked.  Perhaps it’s time for us to set aside time, for time’s sake?

Poets and Writers aren’t smart because we were born smart.  It’s because we’ve had the time to muse and think about things no one has dared to think about.  All throughout my life, I’ve had very few friends.  I could count all my friends at any given time, on my right hand alone.  In fact, right now in life, I really only have one proper friend and that’s my cousin.  I think it’s about time I changed that.

The world is a big place, lots of things to see and do.  There are people to meet and food to taste.  If there is one thing I’ve learned through Social Media and Empire Avenue, it’s that you have to be a “Just One More” kind of person to get ahead.  I choose to be that One More.  Just tonight, I was debating with a friend whether or not I should create a community forum.  With her encouraging me too be that Just One More, I created that Forum tonight.  It’s not public yet because I have a few things to add to it, but it’s there.

Now, there’s just one more thing I have to do tonight before I log.  I’ve got to at least add one new video to my Youtube channel.  You can find my Youtube channel below.  Perhaps together we can all be that “Just One More” person that we all should be.

ThisFlat

Many people assume that they have “Nothing to Lose and Nothing to Gain.”  In fact, You have “Everything to Lose and Everything to Gain.”  When you stop being you, you stop seeing with your eyes.  When you sit on the sidelines, you learn to see again.  When you stop procrastinating, you become someone you never thought you would.  Join me today and Start Living.

Using Google Maps to Plan A Trip?

I came up with a brilliant idea this weekend while at my cousin’s house.  The  idea is simple, “To use Google Maps as a tool for planning a trip.”  As the Brits would say, ‘Bloody Brilliant.’

Some of you already know that I’ll be heading to Europe this coming Summer.  Yep, I’m finally going to make it happen, I’ve got a plan and everything.

Why I think Google Maps is a must have for Modern Day trip planning……

1) Topographical view
2) Street View
3) Options

When you plan a trip, very few people think of the overhead view, or the Topographical view.  This will give you an idea of the layout of the land.  Gives you an idea of what streets to take and makes route planning so much easier.

Street view is a great feature.  On most streets, you can place a man down and get a 360 degree view of the area.  Why is this great?  You get to see things you never would have known were there.  Possible sites and stores to physically see with your own eyes.  You can also click on the ground in Street view and go for a stroll down the street.

What about the options?  Well, there are always options.  Some of them, not necessarily noticed by the general public.  For example, with Google Maps, you can create a Picture Check List, of places you’d like to visit.  Then, when you get to those places, you can take an actual Photo and mark the place off the list.  Great idea right?  One that I will probably use.

Are there any other options you can come up with?  What about other reasons?
